Gavin & Stacey’s Ruth Jones reveals secret behind weight loss

Ruth Jones cut a slim figure at the Adelphi Theatre on Monday, showing the result of her four-and-a-half stone weight loss over 22 months. Quite a change from Gavin & Stacey’s Nessa!

The actress wore a gorgeous blue dress at the ‘One Man, Two Guvnors’ press night, supporting her writing partner James Corden who stars in the play.

The 45-year-old has dropped from a size 24 to a 16, and revealed the motivation behind the change.
Ruth said: “I came back from holiday a couple of years ago  – January 2010, and we all overdo it on holiday, don’t we? Something just clicked, I felt this is now or never, I wanted to make a positive change for me, and I haven’t looked back.”

So how did she do it?
“It’s taken me 22 months to lose four and a half stone. Although I have done loads of diets in my time I have never done it the old-fashioned way – taking in less calories than I was using.
“I thought, right, they say 2000 calories a day is the norm for a woman. I’ll aim for 1,200-1,500 a day and see how it goes.”
The writer/actress has a couple more stone that she aims to lose, the Daily Mail reports.
Ruth added: “The main thing is that I realised I was going to have to be patient. When diets promise you things like ‘lose a stone in a week’ it’s just not realistic. You have to make a decision that if you’ve got a few stones to lose (seven in my case!) then it’s going to take time.”
